Home shirt as worn when Die Borussen retained their Bundesliga title in impressive style, beating a competitive Bayern Munich side to the crown. Picking up impressive wins over Eintracht Frankfurt, Karlsruher and Stuttgart, BVB cruised to the title finishing 6 points ahead of their Bavarian rivals. Central midfielder and future Director of Football Michael Zorc would finish as Dortmund’s top scorer in this campaign, netting 15 as the goals would be shared around the side. In their first UEFA Champions League campaign, BVB would reach the quarter finals, emerging through a tough group containing Rangers, Juventus and Steaua București. Eventual finalists Ajax would prove stern competition for Dortmund, winning 3-0 on aggregate.
